Religious Education

Religious Education is an integral part of Catholic Education. We promote Christian values and encourage these to be evident throughout all learning and social situations.

Children are given an opportunity to build on their relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit through a variety of activities and experiences. Children are brought to an awareness of themselves, of others, of the world and of the Christian faith and tradition. Religious Education is taught every day and topics are chosen from the Diocesan Religious Education Program 'Journeying Together'.

Children at St Laurence's participate in daily prayers, class paraliturgies and school masses. Children are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Grade 3, the Sacrament of the Eucharist in Grade 4 and the Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred in Grade 6. These sacraments are taught in conjunction with the parents, school and parish.

Class Masses and reconciliation celebrations are an integral part of teaching our children within an environment of faith. Classes prepare and attend these sacramental celebrations regularly.
